It’s officially dodge everyone sneezing on you at the grocery store season! Here are some things you can do to help build your families immune system.
Eat your fruits and veggies
Turns out mom was right! One red bell pepper has 179% your daily value of vitamin C alone! And don’t forget to stay hydrated. Drinking enough water helps to eliminate toxins in your body, which is huge in keeping you healthy and feeling well!
According to Healthline.com “One study of 60 people with influenza found that those who took 15 ml of elderberry syrup four times per day showed symptom improvement in two to four days, while the control group took seven to eight days to improve .”
The one I linked above is the particular brand we use. I like this one in particular because it doesn’t have any artificial coloring. (And it tastes delicious!)
Omega- 3 is so helpful for our immune system and overall brain function. (I can personally attest to fish oil significantly improving my anxiety.)
This brand in particular was recommended by our family doctor and the kids love it!
According to ACE Fitness, “Moderate exercise has been linked to a positive immune system response and a temporary boost in the production of macrophages, the cells that attack bacteria. It is believed that regular, consistent exercise can lead to substantial benefits in immune system health over the long term.”
If you don’t believe yourself to be ‘a person who enjoys exercise’ I would encourage you to find a form of movement you enjoy. Simple walks in the park can do wonders for your health. Don’t get caught up in the fitness marketing giant that says you need a 30 day program to shred your body to pieces in order to be ‘fit’. Biking, swimming, hiking, walking. Those are all wonderful ways to workout.
Keep your stress levels down
Easier said than done, I know! But the fact that stress lowers your immune system is something that just can’t be ignored! Even if you take just 15 minutes for yourself every day, walking, meditating, reading or napping! You can help push that reset button on your stressful day.
These are just a few ways you can help stay healthy this flu season! What are your go- to natural sick day remedies?
